Application Procedure for the Executive Hotel Management Diploma Program

  1. Please contact the school to arrange a time to write the Personal Statement. Applicants may also be interviewed by the admissions office.

  2. Submit your Application Form along with the application and entrance fees. The application fee (non-refundable) is CAD$150 for domestic students (namely Canadian citizens and permanent residents) and CAD$250 for international applicants. The entrance fee is CAD$50 for all students. Be sure to complete every section of the Application Form. For students applying from outside of Canada, you may fax the application to +1-604-688-0252, email it to or submit the application form online at http://www.ihmc.ca/s/AdmissionForm.asp. The application fee may be paid by certified cheque or wire transfer. The following is the wire transfer banking information:

  3. Applicants need to submit two reference letters. (The references may be your former or current instructors, coaches, employers, or volunteer project managers. In other words, the reference letters may be from a variety of people who know you well and are able to describe your character, and testify to your achievements).

  4. Applicants need to submit a copy of their resume/CV with all relevant education and work experiences.

  5. Once applicants have submitted the documents listed above, the college will evaluate the application. If the student is accepted, IHMC will send the student a Conditional Letter of Acceptance and an invoice.

  6. Upon receiving the Conditional Letter of Acceptance and the invoice from the college, you may then submit your program fees directly to IHMC (see above banking information), together with the following documents:
    • Photocopy of your passport or birth certificate. If you are submitting a copy of your birth certificate please submit a piece of photo ID along with it.
    • For international students, photocopy of your passport. In addition, students who are already in Canada can submit a copy of their current study visa.
    • Photocopy of your transcripts and/or diplomas from previous educational institutions.
    • Proof of medical insurance.
    • 2 passport sized photos for your student ID.

  7. A formal acceptance letter will be issued to you upon receiving the program fees and above documents.

    For international students, you should use this Formal Letter of Acceptance to apply for your student visa. Please contact our office of admissions for additional information regarding visa application, or you may visit a Canadian visa office in your home country.   8. For international students, submit a copy of your study visa.

  9. Your student orientation will be at 10 am on your first day, at the IHMC administrative office in downtown Vancouver. If you are living at the hotel campus you will be scheduled to check in to the hotel campus on the Sunday prior to your start date. Check in time is 4 pm. Airport reception is available for CAD$75. Alternatively, students may hire a taxi at the airport or take the Canada Line skytrain from "YVR Airport station" to "Vancouver City Centre station":

Students may enroll in the program on any of the following start dates. The program requires students to complete all 12 modules which will take 36 weeks (9 months) from the start date.

Admissions Criteria:

To be qualified for the program of study, an applicant should:
  1. Hold a high school diploma, or G.E.D. Or, be at least 19 years of age, as a mature student with qualifications equivalent to high school education.
  2. Hold legal status to study in Canada (proof of Canadian citizenship/permanent resident status).
  3. For applicants who have English as a second language, submit proof of a TOEFL score of 500 and above or an equivalent (e.g. TOEFL CBT 173, TOEFL IBT 61, IELTS 6, TOEIC 600, or CAEL 50), or pass the IHMC language proficiency evaluation.
  4. Complete the IHMC Personal Statement; applicants may also be interviewed by an admissions officer.
  5. Submit all the required documents, and paid the required fees.
